On October 19th, Art of the Heart had their 7th annual sale in Golden Valley, Minnesota raising an impressive $14,000 in just 5 hours! All proceeds from this inspiring event went to support Change the Outcome’s mission of educating Minnesota students about the opioid crisis, substance use disorders, and emerging drug trends.
Art of the Heart, created by Rhoda and Dave Michaelynn, features a diverse collection of handmade art, including pottery, woodcrafts, watercolor prints, and more. After the tragic loss of their 18-year-old son, Adam, to an accidental overdose, they turned to art as a form of grief therapy, giving birth to Art of the Heart. Since its inception in 2017, over $40,000 have been raised for local non-profits dedicated to supporting youth mental health.
The 2024 sale generated significant media attention including coverage from Kare 11, KSTP, CCX, and Sun Post, highlighting the Michaelynn’s dedication to destigmatizing mental health and substance use disorders. Change the Outcome is deeply grateful for their ongoing support and the incredible generosity that makes our educational efforts possible.
