Stay Spooky AND Safe this Halloween!

Whether we are trick or treating or handing out candy this year, our hope is that all of us can be comfortable making the choice that is best for ourselves, rather than following the trends of those around us. This isn’t just advice for teenagers, either. Halloween is one of those holidays in America, similar to Independence Day, that is often associated with alcohol consumption. Those of us in recovery or who are struggling with substance use oftentimes find October 31st as an unexpected source of temptation, which, if not planned for, can be a major source of stress! So please, be prepared for Friday! That can mean ensuring your child is aware of safe (and consequence free!) transportation options to and from any get togethers they may attend. Preparation can also look like reaching out to a friend to set up an exit plan if things go differently than expected. However you may choose to spend your Halloween this year, be sure take care of yourself and those around you. A little preparation can make the night safer and more enjoyable!
