2024 Sees a Decrease in Deadly Fentanyl-Laced Pills

Pressed pills, or pills laced with fentanyl, are central to the staggering rate of opioid overdoses that happen in the US each year. In 2023, the Drug Enforcement Agency found that 7 out of 10 pills they confiscated contained a potentially lethal dose of fentanyl. This rate dropped to 5 out of 10 pills in 2024, and although this is still a very high rate, it is great that we are trending in the right direction. Change the Outcome works hard to provide students with the most up-to-date information that we have access to, and we have updated this statistic in our presentation. It is important to note that the prevalence of pressed pills is constantly changing and that going through the pharmacy is the only safe way to take prescription medication.
